Improved comfort – less noise, warmer in winter, cooler in summer

Mrs Dembogaj has a large family – eight people live in a 100 square metre house. To improve the living conditions and decrease the energy bill, Mrs Dembogaj decided to install energy efficient windows, a biomass boiler and thermal insulation of walls.

She addressed a KoSEP participating bank for a loan for this project and benefitted from the online Technology Selector where she could choose among pre-approved high performance energy saving technologies for residential application.

Thanks to the  €7,000 investment, Mrs Dembogaj expects her energy bill to decrease by 50 per cent, especially during winter. After the investment is repaid from energy cost savings, the large family will have the new cash-flow as an additional income for years to come – not a bad supplement to a family budget.

She emphasised, “I believe our living comfort has improved. Now we can maintain a lower internal temperature in summer and a higher temperature in winter. In addition, there is less noise from the outside.” Mrs Dembogaj adds, “I consider the new equipment to be a good long-term investment and, therefore, I convinced my neighbour to apply for the same loan.”

Such residential investment examples not only stimulate people to improve their quality of life, but also nurture a culture of a wise and careful attitude to the environment and its resources.

The EBRD, through KoSEP, supports the sustainable financing and implementation of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects by the residential sector. Together, the residential, private, and public sectors can make a change in energy consumption patterns and contribute to environmental protection.
