Workshops organized for best in class Albanian vendors dealing with energy efficiency
€ 9 million to boost energy efficiency for Albanian residents
GEFF meets vendors in Albania that offer EE products
Finance provided under EBRD €85 million Green Economy Financing Facility for the Western Balkans.
The Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF) organized workshops in Elbasan and Fier with vendors that offer energy efficient technologies and materials. Moreover, EBRD GEFF team presented the Programme to vendors in Durres in a workshop organized by Fondi Besa.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has dedicated €9 million to make Albania a greener economy through GEFF. These workshops with vendors throughout Albania are organized with the aim to present the programme and establish strong cooperation between the three stakeholders.
These workshops were attended by 40 vendors representing different categories of energy efficiency eligible through GEFF. They were trained on how to present the EBRD GEFF to their clients and increase their income since the loan will be used to purchase eligible technologies from them.
Namely, the main goal of the EBRF GEFF is to help households increase the level of energy efficiency by reducing the CO2 emissions while at the same time increasing the comfort of their homes. In this challenging endeavor, EBRD GEFF’s main partners are the vendors registered on the Technology Selector and Partner Financial Institutions – Union Bank and Fondi Besa. The vendors registered in the Technology Selector will increase the turnover of their company as funds will be used to purchase eligible technologies from them.
During the workshop, EBRD GEFF experts explained how vendors can become part of the programme but also how they help their clients print the eligibility Certificate for their products so purchases are done quickly, resulting in a faster turnover for the vendors. The GEFF team also explained the process of how clients can apply for a grant ranging from 15% to 20% of the investment.
Representatives of the financial institutions also took part in workshops. They presented their loan product and conditions that they offer to all residents in Albania. Both institutions invited the vendors to cooperate with them in order to make the purchase of their technologies more accessible to a wider number of homeowners. They emphasized they expect investments in energy efficiency to provide better living conditions and contribute to the creation of a healthier environment for Albanian citizens.
