Eligibility criteria

GVC finances investments in a wide range of technologies leading to improved competitiveness.

Eligible enterprises

• Private Egyptian SME**: turnover < EUR 50 million or balance sheet < EUR 43 million and < 250 employees ;
• Operating in a value chain (i.e., at least one local supplier and/or one local or international buyer);

**The European Union’s definition of an SME applies

Eligible sectors

• Agribusiness, manufacturing and services, logistics and distribution, and information and communication technologies.

Eligible projects

• CapEx investments leading to energy, water, and resource efficiency or the use of renewable energy;

And/or

• CapEx investments leading to any of the following: increased added value, better safety and quality standards, the introduction of new product or service, enhanced competitiveness, and higher export potential.

Eligible financing amounts

• Up to 100% of investment cost (excluding VAT) subject to decision by the PFI
• Loans of up  to EUR 300,000 for pre-approved equipment from the Green Technology Selector
• Loans of up to EUR 1,000,000 for “assisted projects” with technical support from the GVC team

Financing is subject to the usual financing criteria of each participating financial institution, in compliance with the Central Bank of Egypt regulations.
