Thermal insulation and energy efficient windows reduce the energy bill

Aizada Bekturova, an apartment owner in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, wanted to improve her home – to keep it warm in winter and cool in summer – quite a challenge, considering the country’s temperatures.

To reach this objective, and to reduce energy bills, Mrs Bekturova wanted to install new energy efficient windows and thermal insulation of walls.

The KySEFF facility was more than timely with funding for such measures. The necessary equipment could be selected from the online Technology Selector on the KyrSEFF website – a database, where the best available energy saving technologies on the market are presented. With a decision made, the family could apply for the loan. Since the equipment had already been pre-evaluated for its energy savings potential, the loan approval process did not take long.

The $1,800 loan allowed the family to reduce the house’s energy consumption by 1,557 kWh per year, leading to decent cost savings. The residents felt the result of the investment immediately thanks to reduced energy bills and improved living conditions. The investment will repay from energy savings rather fast, continuing to generate savings for many more years to follow.

Such measures can be replicated easily, solving several issues simultaneously – refurbishment of the housing stock, prolonging its lifetime and reducing the energy consumption of Kyrgyz Republic. This financial mechanism, provided by the KyrSEFF facility, allows investments to be as easy as possible.
