Renovation of a wine bottling and packaging line for a Moroccan company

Created in 1968, Thalvin, is a wine producer located in Ben Slimane. As a result of increased costs of wine bottling and packaging, the company approached MorSEFF to evaluate and finance the renovation of its bottling and packaging line. This new line with a capacity of 6,000 bottles per hour is characterized by higher productivity, lower energy consumption, easy and safe sterilization, minimal wine oxidation during bottling, and widespread use of stainless steel, which saves on water and cleaning products consumption, thus reducing the environmental footprint.

The € 602,075 eligible MorSEFF investment allowed the company to reduce the energy consumption of the bottling line by 38.7%, giving a specific consumption of 1.8 kWh/hl instead of 3 kWh/hl. As a result of this investment, the factory bottling cost production has been decreased by nearly € 100,000, the energy consumption by 40MWh/year and CO2 emissions by 25.6 t/year.

For the successful implementation of the energy efficiency project, Thalvin was awarded a €60,207 grant, representing 10% of the loan amount.

Morocco Sustainable Energy Financing Facility (MorSEFF) was developed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in cooperation with the French Agency for Development (AFD), The European Investment Bank and the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) and supported by the European Union and the multi-donor account SEMED.
