At the EBRD’s 2024 Annual Meeting and Business Forum, held from May 14-16 in Yerevan, Armenia, global leaders, policymakers, and business executives gathered to focus on sustainable development and climate resilience under the theme “Delivering Impact Together”.
A key highlight was honouring the first graduates from the EBRD Climate Transition Planning Programme. This initiative, designed to help Armenian banks integrate climate considerations into their operations, saw nine banks, including Acba Bank, Ameriabank, and HSBC Armenia, complete the programme. Participants received sustainable trophies made from recycled chocolate moulds.
The Climate Practices and Transition Planning Programme, part of the EBRD Green Finance Academy, developed skills in climate risk management, strategy, and governance. It was structured around the TCFD framework and the EBRD’s Paris alignment methodology, combining 50 hours of in-person and online learning from October 2023 to April 2024.
Graduates left with comprehensive transition plans tailored to their institutions, ready to drive systemic change. The EBRD meeting showcased these achievements, emphasising the banking sector’s role in advancing Armenia’s green economy as part of the broader GEFF programme.
