Georgia is strengthening its economic cooperation with the United Nations, placing green energy, sustainable finance and regional connectivity at the centre of its development agenda. The enhanced alignment further reinforces the operating environment for initiatives such as the GEFF in Georgia.
Recent high-level discussions focused on priority sectors central to Georgia’s economic transformation, including green energy and energy efficiency, digital transformation, transport and logistics, sustainable tourism, and education and skills development.
The UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2026–2030 will serve as a multi-year roadmap to align international support with Georgia’s national development priorities.
Particular attention was given to clean energy development, including emerging technologies and improved energy efficiency. These areas are closely linked to Georgia’s evolving sustainable finance landscape and continued growth in green lending for clean technologies and efficiency upgrades.
Infrastructure modernisation and regional connectivity were also highlighted as key pillars of economic diversification and integration. Strengthening transport networks and enhancing energy system cooperation with European partners are expected to improve trade flows, boost energy security and support long-term investment.
For sustainable finance programmes, the deepened cooperation signals policy continuity and a supportive environment for climate-aligned investment. As Georgia advances its green transition alongside infrastructure development, opportunities in energy efficiency, renewables and clean technologies are expected to expand.
