On February 17th, the EU Ambassador to Jordan, Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas, and the EBRD Head of the Eastern Mediterranean Region, Gretchen Biery, visited businesses that have benefited from the Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF). The visit showcased how sustainable investments are driving efficiency and growth across various industries in Jordan.
The ambassador first visited a food processing company that implemented a GEFF-supported production line upgrade, leading to a remarkable 27% reduction in its annual energy bill. During the visit, the ambassador and EBRD representatives toured the facility and observed how these improvements enhance operational efficiency.
Continuing the journey into another key sector, Mrs. Biery visited a laundry and garment care business that invested in modern, automatic ironing technology. This system significantly improved energy efficiency, cutting energy consumption by 79% per piece while also reducing water use and labor hours. The adoption of this technology allowed the business to retire two manual irons while increasing production capacity, demonstrating the powerful impact of sustainable investments.
The visit underscored the EU and EBRD’s commitment to supporting green investments that enhance energy efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and improve business performance across Jordan’s industries.
