The GEFF team met with the Royal Scientific Society (RSS) to introduce the initiative of GEFF and the inclusion of green building certification financing under the umbrella of GEFF.
The GEFF team initiated the meeting with a comprehensive introduction of the GEFF Facility and the participating PFIs under GEFF. The GEFF team also explained the eligibility criteria used to approve the financing of green buildings by reviewing the international standards such as EDGE and LEED and also the local Jordanian standards such as the Jordan Green Building Council standards.
In the meeting, the EBRD GEFF principal manager and the RSS engaged in discussions about advancing energy- efficient building initiatives. EBRD highlighted the impact of the 10% cashback incentive offered through GEFF financing. The EBRD expressed the importance of collaborating with the Jordan Green Building Council and thereby expand the reach of the 10% cashback support for green building projects. The RSS highlighted that the cashback would be a high-impact incentive tool, which in addition to existing government incentives could play a major role in motivating individuals and SMEs to invest in green buildings.
Lastly, the RSS inquired about the possibility of merging the loan source under GEFF. The GEFF team responded positively in regard to combining GEFF financing with another financing tool as long as the GEFF loan share is 50% or more of the total loan amount.
