The GEFF team established the gender component with its partner financial institutions
The gender component under the EBRD’s GEFF Jordan project focuses on the following: understanding and closing the gender gap between women and men in the finance sector; the preferences of women and their challenges in purchasing green products; and raising the awareness amongst women of climate change and the impact of green loans, trainings and workshops on their businesses.
The GEFF team launched the component by meeting with the PFIs and discussing their needs and an action plan for each institution. Upon agreeing on the action plan, the GEFF team initiated a national baseline assessment, which aims to understand the local market and the gender gap in term of access to finance for climate technologies.
By the end of the gender component, the GEFF team will have identified the needs and priorities of the PFIs’ clients (women and men) in accessing finance for green technologies. This will lead to an improvement of energy security and climate resilience for both women and men.
