Glass Packaging Manufacturing Plant

Bagdar LTD has implemented a project for the construction of a glass packaging manufacturing plant in Almaty, located within the Alatau Industrial Zone. The facility has a production capacity of 80 tonnes of finished products per day, with total production premises covering 3,160 square metres.

The total investment cost of the project amounted to USD 4.8 million. The financing was allocated towards the procurement and installation of modern production, packaging and compressor equipment supplied by a European manufacturer.

A key feature of the project is the introduction of high-efficiency technologies enabling the use of post-consumer glass as a raw material, reducing reliance on virgin resource extraction. This approach is aligned with circular economy principles: used glass is collected and processed into cullet, which is then utilised in the production of new glass products.

The use of recycled materials reduces energy consumption in the glass melting process by 2.5–3% for every 10% increase in cullet content and ensures annual material savings of up to 10,000 tonnes.

The project was implemented with financing from Shinhan Bank Kazakhstan JSC, supported under the EBRD’s Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF), which promotes the adoption of modern, energy-efficient technologies.

The project contributes to the development of new industrial capacity, increases the supply of high-quality glass packaging in the domestic market, and facilitates the integration of energy-efficient technologies and circular economy principles into the production process.
