Modern irrigation systems help the agricultural enterprise in Almaty Region increase crop yields and efficiently use water resources

LLP Rancho Hampshire, located in the Ili District of Almaty Region, is engaged in agriculture and livestock development. The enterprise specializes in breeding English sheep and cultivating fodder crops, including corn, alfalfa, and mixed grasses.

Currently, the farm uses a furrow irrigation system, which results in some water loss and reduces land-use efficiency. To optimize water resources, the company decided to implement modern irrigation technologies.

To this end, the company purchased six stationary center pivot irrigation machines, designed to irrigate 300 hectares of agricultural land. The project was financed through a loan from Bank CenterCredit  under the EBRD’s Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF).

The irrigation machines selected by the company met GEFF program requirements and were listed in the Green Technology Selector, which significantly accelerated the loan approval process.

The introduction of modern irrigation systems and expansion of cultivated areas will enhance production efficiency and strengthen the fodder base for livestock development.

“Using irrigation machines will enable automated watering, ensure even irrigation on uneven fields, and increase crop yields by up to 30%. This will allow the company to use water more efficiently, reduce losses, and improve land productivity,” said Mr. S. N. Chepis, Company Director.
