Modern lighting technologies help the greenhouse complex in the Karaganda region increase crop yields and supply the market with fresh vegetables all year round

AAA LLP, located in the Abay district of the Karaganda region, has been specializing for many years in growing vegetables—particularly cucumbers and tomatoes—and supplying them to the domestic market.

Demand for fresh vegetables in the region is steadily increasing, especially during the cold season. At the same time, local production does not yet fully meet market demand, and a significant share of products is supplied from other regions and countries.

As part of its greenhouse production development and in order to improve business efficiency, the company decided to modernize the greenhouse complex and expand it to 8 hectares.

To implement the project, the company applied to Bank CenterCredit for financing to purchase plant supplementary lighting equipment—lamps with deep reflectors. The bank suggested that the company use  the EBRD’s Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF).

The introduction of the new equipment will allow the company to increase the productivity of the greenhouse complex by approximately 10% and ensure more stable year-round vegetable production.

The lighting equipment purchased by the company is registered in the Green Technology Selector, confirming its compliance with the energy efficiency criteria of the GEFF program.

Thanks to the implementation of an energy-efficient supplementary lighting system, the greenhouse complex in the Karaganda region is increasing the production of fresh vegetables and reducing the region’s dependence on imported products.
