Under “EBRD for Green Economy” the Western Balkans GEFF Programme was one of the projects presented
in the Green Festival 2019, organized in Prishtina in October, 2019.
Green Festival is the only fair in Kosovo that gathers together green businesses of Kosovo and other relevant projects. The Green Festival is organized every year to promote green businesses and raise awareness and interest in energy efficiency, renewable energy and recycling. Forty-seven businesses were exhibitors at the festival, promoting their products and services in the Green Pavilion. Starting from this edition, the event was organized by the Kosovo Manufacturing Club.
The WB GEFF Programme together with SME Competitiveness Programme were presented under the name “EBRD for Green Economy”.
The Head of EBRD in Kosovo, Mr. Neil Taylor, opened the panel discussion “EBRD in Kosovo: implementing green solutions for homes, business and cities”. He invited the business sector to action by saying: “We need to crowd in private sector to tackle climate change & environmental challenges in Kosovo”.
Moreover, the PFI Relationship Manager of the WB GEFF, Arian Lila, presented the project and emphasized the need for homeowners to invest in energy efficient technologies: “To date, more than 11 million Euro have been invested in the residential sector in our countries of operation that have contributed to saving over 10 million kWh of energy and avoiding over 3.6 million kg of CO2 emissions per year. This is equal to eliminating 2,305 cars out of the streets every year.”
TEB Banka, one of the financial partners of EBRD WB GEFF, was also a sponsor of the Green Festival. They presented the excellent results of the GEFF green loans in the Green Forums.
GEFF in the Western Balkans is part of the international EBRD GEFF programme. GEFF in the Western Balkans is implemented under the Regional Energy Efficiency Programme for the Western Balkans (REEP Plus), funded by the European Union and realised in cooperation with the Energy Community Secretariat. The Technical Cooperation programme under the Facility is supported by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance and the Western Balkan Investment Framework.
