EBRD GEFF was one of the partners of the Green Festival organized for the third time in Prishtina, from September 19-21.
The Green Festival is organized every year to promote Kosovo’s green businesses and raise awareness and interest on energy efficiency, renewable energy and recycling. Forty-one businesses from Kosovo were exhibitors at the festival, promoting their products and services in the Green Pavilion.
The PFI Relationship Manager of EBRD GEFF, Arian Lila, presented the project and emphasized the need for investing in energy efficient technologies as well as in renewable energies. He highlighted that 55% of the electrical energy in Kosovo is used by households and that the penetration of households in energy efficient investments is just 9%, therefore, there is huge potential to reduce the consumption of electrical energy.
TEB Banka, one of the financial partners of EBRD GEFF was another supporter of Green Festival. Therefore, the public was informed for both – in which technologies they can invest through EBRD GEFF but also the requirements to take a loan.
Around 640,000 euro worth of investments were verified in Kosovo until now, while the total amount is expected to reach € 8,5 million.
The EBRD Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF) in Western Balkans provides finance for green economy investments in the residential sector as well as to businesses who provide energy efficiency and renewable energy products and services to households. The total volume of the credit line in the Western Balkans, namely in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and in Kosovo, is €85 Million.
GEFF in the Western Balkans is implemented under the Regional Energy Efficiency Programme for the Western Balkans (REEP Plus), funded by the European Union and realised in cooperation with the Energy Community Secretariat. The Technical Cooperation programme under the Facility is supported by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance and the Western Balkan Investment Framework.
