EBRD program GEFF was present in the Kosovo Sustainable Development Week, which was organized in Prishtina on 16 – 22 September, 2019 to support Energy Efficiency.
Energy Efficiency was among the highest priorities of KSDW’19. The third day of this important event gathered together stakeholders from national and local government, civil society, the international community, and the private sector.
Keynote speaker for the Energy Efficiency event was David Oberhuber from GIZ Kosovo noting that the most important partner today is the private sector. Arian Lila, the PFI Relationship Manager of GEFF in Kosovo presented the importance of the Programme and its current results:
“To date, more than 10 million Euro have been invested in individual projects in our countries of operation that have contributed to saving over 9 million kWh of energy and avoiding over 3.3 million kg of CO2 emissions per year. GEFF in Kosovo is part of the Western Balkans GEFF for which EBRD has dedicated 85 million Euro for energy efficient technologies.”
Mr. Lila invited EE businesses to learn how their peers have earned 3,4 million Euro from the programme so far. GEFF is open to welcome all high-quality EE products and vendors that sell such products. On the other side, it was emphasized the grant up to 20% made possible by European Union to incentivize Kosovo families to choose energy efficient products.
GEFF in the Western Balkans is part of the international EBRD GEFF programme. GEFF in the Western Balkans is implemented under the Regional Energy Efficiency Programme for the Western Balkans (REEP Plus), funded by the European Union and realised in cooperation with the Energy Community Secretariat. The Technical Cooperation programme under the Facility is supported by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance and the Western Balkan Investment Framework.
