Izat Kubatbekova, a resident of Bishkek, is a long-standing client of FINCA Bank. She previously drove a petrol-powered car, but over time decided to switch to an electric vehicle.
For Izat, this decision became particularly relevant amid rising prices for conventional fuel. Today, petrol and diesel cost around KGS 100 per litre, while using an electric vehicle allows her to significantly reduce the cost of daily travel.
“I used to have a petrol-powered car. Now I charge my electric vehicle approximately once a day. It charges more slowly at home, but that is convenient for me. Most importantly, my travel expenses have decreased,” says Izat Kubatbekova.

“I believe that green transport is important for Kyrgyzstan. I would like to see more electric vehicles on our roads. It helps save money while also reducing harmful emissions,” says Izat Kubatbekova.
Izat’s interest in energy-efficient solutions extends beyond transport. In the future, she plans to insulate her home to reduce heat loss and improve heating efficiency. Previously, her family lived in an apartment with electric heating, which proved to be too costly.
Today, the electric vehicle is more than simply an alternative to a petrol car for Izat. It is a practical choice that helps her manage transport costs while reducing her impact on the environment.
“I would like to see more environmentally friendly transport and more opportunities for people to choose such solutions. We even dream of purchasing a small electric truck. We are grateful to the KyrSEFF programme for providing this opportunity,” says Izat Kubatbekova.
Izat’s story demonstrates that environmentally friendly choices can address practical everyday needs: reducing expenses, lowering dependence on costly fuel, and making daily travel more economical.
The KyrSEFF Green Economy Financing Programme is implemented in the Kyrgyz Republic with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
