Thanks to the KyrSEFF loan, energy efficient equipment was installed in the Taj Mahal Business Center and Hotel.
Tazhinisa Abdurasulova is an Honored Economist of the Kyrgyz Republic, she has worked in the business environment in the city of Osh all her life. In 2023, she decided to renovate the old two-story Taj Mahal Hotel in the southern capital.
When the entrepreneur Tazhinisa Abdurasulova began developing architectural documents for a new seven-story building in Osh, which was planned as a business center and hotel, and she encountered a serious problem: the thermal power plant refused to provide heat to the facility. This became the starting point in the search for alternative heating solutions.
Having applied to Demirbank for a loan, Tazhinisa Abdurasulova learned about the KyrSEFF program — the Green Economy Financing Facility in Kyrgyzstan, supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. At the same time, the bank was training employees on the program, which allowed them to quickly receive explanations and consultations.
There in the southern capital, the entrepreneur met KyrSEFF consultant Nurlan Irisov , who spoke in detail about the possibilities of independent heating. She was shown successful projects in Osh, where energy-efficient technologies had already been implemented. Inspired by the examples, Tazhinisa Abdurasulova decided to participate in the program.
The construction project of the Taj Mahal business center and hotel began in May 2023. The building includes:
The Taj Mahal Hotel had been operating since 1994. But the building was outdated, so it was decided to demolish it completely and build a new commercial facility that meets modern requirements.
In November 2023, the installation of the equipment was completed, and recently on March 6, 2025, on the day of the grand opening, the facility was provided with 100% independent heating. The event was attended by representatives of the mayor’s office, architecture and city services.
Thanks to KyrSEFF, the following energy-saving solutions have been implemented:
✅ installation of a 300 kW heat pump
✅ insulation of walls, floors and ceilings
✅ energy efficient lighting
✅ panoramic energy-saving windows
” Those who come to the city of Osh know the Taj Mahal landmark very well, as one of the wonders of the world. Therefore, we hope that we will have many clients in the new building. To ensure comfort and warmth, we have considered all possible options, and now we are not afraid of either cold or heat. The ventilation system is fully installed – this is an expensive, but long-term investment,” notes Tazhinisa Abdurasulova .
The project was financed with the participation of the EBRD and KyrSEFF , and the program consultants provided professional support at all stages. The business owner is confident that the use of energy-saving technologies is the future of Kyrgyzstan, especially in the conditions of electricity shortages.
The project resulted in avoided primary energy consumption of 418.52 MW/year and reduced CO2 emissions by 89.95 tons/year .
“Every entrepreneur should use such opportunities. The main thing is to know the right approach and actively participate in events, follow KyrSEFF news and receive professional advice,” advises Tazhinisa Abdurasulova .
KyrSEFF program, the new Taj Mahal business center and hotel have become a model of energy-efficient construction and environmentally sustainable business in Kyrgyzstan.
