The Green Technology Selector boosts green investments in photovoltaic sector in Moldova

Mardivitana Dulgheru SRL, established in 2013 sell furniture, building materials and home appliances in Cantemir, in the south part of Moldova. The owners decided to upgrade the heating system in the showroom, switching from an old wood & charcoal stove system to modern electric heaters powered by renewable energy. The Company will install a 225 kW solar photovoltaic system that will not only provide the energy needed to heat the showroom but will also increase business revenue by selling excess electricity to the national grid at a fixed tariff of 1.88 lei/kWh.

The investment of € 165,000 will generate approximately 270 MWh of clean electricity per year and contribute to 130 tCO2 of emission reductions. This is equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 200 Moldovan households or 450 people.

To finance the investment, Mardivitana Dulgheru SRL applied for GEFF financing of € 93,000 through maib. The equipment selected by the company is listed on the EBRD`s Green Technology Selector (GTS) and is therefore automatically eligible. The GTS is an online database with more than 30,000 best performing products and technologies, resulting in clear benefits and environmental improvements for end users.

Victor Dulgheru from Mardivitana Dulgheru SRL said: „We chose the panels from the EBRD’s Green Technology Selector, a user-friendly online database where you can find any green product you need for your investment. In addition, the products included in the GTS are pre-approved for GEFF financing and result in higher efficiency standards than the market average“.

The credit limit for this fast-track category of green projects is € 300,000. In case a client needs a higher credit (up to €500,000 in residential sector and up to € 5 million in the non-residential private sectors), the GEFF Experts will carry out a more in-depth technical assessment of the project to check the full technical eligibility.

GEFF is a program of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), implemented in 28 countries, which provided financing of over 5 billion euros for more than 218 thousand companies and individuals, thus avoiding emissions of CO2 of over 9.5 million tons per year.
