Enhancing quality of care while optimizing energy consumption

DAMES is a Moroccan limited liability company based in Marrakech, specialized in the management and operation of surgical clinics, including Clinique Le Marrakech. The facility is equipped with comprehensive medical infrastructure, including a maternity unit, a surgical block with nine operating rooms, a catheterization laboratory, as well as adult and neonatal intensive care units, enabling it to deliver a wide range of specialized healthcare services.

In response to a growing demand for advanced medical procedures, the clinic faced increasing needs for image-guided therapy, requiring highly reliable, high-performance equipment. Conventional solutions available on the market did not fully meet the clinic’s requirements in terms of imaging quality, patient safety, and energy efficiency, limiting its ability to optimize clinical outcomes and operational performance.

As part of its development strategy, DAMES invested in a new Allia IGS 520 cardio-angiography system from GE Healthcare, installed at Clinique Le Marrakech. This state-of-the-art equipment enables the clinic to strengthen its capacity in image-guided interventions while enhancing the overall quality of care.

The new system is designed to deliver high-resolution imaging and improve procedural accuracy, contributing to better patient outcomes and enhanced safety for both patients and medical staff. Equipped with advanced automation features, the system continuously adjusts imaging parameters in real time, optimizing energy use during procedures and preventing unnecessary consumption without compromising performance.

In addition to clinical benefits, the investment has led to measurable improvements in energy efficiency. The clinic’s annual electricity consumption has been reduced by 12.42 MWh, reflecting a more efficient use of resources and improved operational performance.

This reduction translates into a tangible environmental impact, with annual greenhouse gas emissions reduced by 7.1 tons of CO₂ equivalent. The project therefore contributes to both improved healthcare delivery and a lower environmental footprint.

Through this investment, DAMES demonstrates how healthcare facilities can leverage advanced medical technologies to enhance the quality of care, optimize operating costs, and reduce energy consumption. The project stands as a practical example of how innovation in the healthcare sector can support both performance and sustainability objectives.

Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF) in Morocco is a green economy financing program, implemented by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), will provide financing to Moroccan private enterprises through local financial institution partners. Supported by the European Union (EU), the Green Climate Fund (GCF). It will enable local companies to invest in green technologies, reduce their costs through climate adaptation measures, energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies.
