Increasing production capacity while reducing energy consumption and emissions
Damane Gypsum is a Moroccan SME specialized in the production and commercialization of gypsum-based products. Leveraging its industrial expertise and a growing market presence, the company has positioned itself as a key player in the construction materials sector, supplying products tailored to both residential and industrial applications.
The company operates an industrial facility equipped with two active production lines, while a third line is under development to further strengthen its capacity in natural gypsum processing. The first production line is dedicated to natural gypsum and mortar, while the second focuses on the manufacturing of gypsum boards, allowing the company to address diverse market needs.
In a context of sustained demand for construction materials and increasing competition, Damane Gypsum faced the challenge of scaling up its production capacity while maintaining product quality and optimizing operational performance. The existing packaging processes limited the company’s ability to fully capitalize on its production output and respond efficiently to market requirements.
To support its growth strategy and enhance its industrial performance, Damane Gypsum invested in a new production line dedicated to the packaging of powdered gypsum. The new installation was strategically integrated downstream of the third production line, ensuring continuity across the manufacturing process and improving overall workflow efficiency.
The investment enabled a significant increase in production capacity, with packaged gypsum output rising by 50%. In parallel, the new system improved packaging precision, enhanced the quality of finished products, and provided greater flexibility in packaging formats, allowing the company to better meet customer expectations.
Beyond capacity expansion, the project generated tangible operational efficiencies. The optimized production process contributed to a reduction in material losses and an improvement in overall plant productivity, strengthening the company’s competitiveness in a demanding market environment.
The new installation also delivered a strong energy performance, with energy consumption reduced by 31%. This improvement translates into a proportional reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, supporting the company’s transition towards more sustainable industrial practices.
Through this investment, Damane Gypsum demonstrates how targeted industrial upgrades can simultaneously drive growth, improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact. The project stands as a replicable example of how Moroccan industrial SMEs can modernize their operations while aligning with evolving market and sustainability requirements.
