This new production line helps meet growing demand for irrigation solutions while reducing energy consumption by 37%.

Efficient irrigation plays a critical role in supporting agricultural productivity, particularly in regions where water resources must be carefully managed. Based in the heart of Morocco’s Souss-Massa agricultural region, Agro Expertise has built its business around providing farmers with modern and reliable drip irrigation solutions.

Located in Chtouka Ait Baha near Agadir, Agro Expertise is a Moroccan SME specializing in the manufacturing and marketing of irrigation pipes with integrated drippers. Through its expertise and modern production capabilities, the company provides farmers and agricultural operators with high-quality irrigation solutions designed to meet international standards and support more efficient agricultural practices.

As demand for efficient irrigation systems continued to grow, Agro Expertise sought to expand its production capabilities while improving the energy performance of its manufacturing process. The existing production line consumed approximately 0.5 kWh of electricity per kilogram of product, creating an opportunity to introduce more efficient technology while strengthening the company’s ability to respond to market demand.

To support its growth and modernization strategy, Agro Expertise invested in a new RIVULIS production line for round drip irrigation pipes. Equipped with advanced extrusion technology, energy-efficient IE3 motors, and automated process controls, the new line was designed to combine high production performance with improved energy efficiency and consistent product quality.

The investment transformed the company’s manufacturing process. The new equipment enables Agro Expertise to produce high-quality drip irrigation pipes through an efficient, integrated production process while improving operational flexibility and reducing production costs. Faster and simpler flow adjustments, advanced process control, and user-friendly operation also contribute to greater production efficiency and reliability.

At the same time, the new technology significantly improved the energy performance of the manufacturing process. Specific electricity consumption decreased from 0.5 kWh/kg to 0.313 kWh/kg, representing a 37% reduction compared with the previous equipment. This improved efficiency enables Agro Expertise to reduce its annual electricity consumption by approximately 157.4 MWh.

Beyond the operational and economic benefits, the project also delivers a meaningful environmental impact, avoiding approximately 83.9 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent emissions every year. By combining advanced manufacturing technology with improved resource efficiency, Agro Expertise demonstrates how investment in modern production equipment can simultaneously support business growth, strengthen industrial competitiveness, and contribute to more sustainable agricultural value chains.

Green Value Chain (GVC) in Morocco is a credit facility of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to provide funding to local partner financial institutions for on-lending to Moroccan SMEs belonging to agribusiness, processing industries and logistics value chains and ecosystems. Supported by the European Union, the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the Korean Technical Assistance and Cooperation Account (KTACA) and the EBRD Shareholder Special Fund (EBRD SSF), the facility aims to improve competitiveness of SMEs and that of their value chains and ecosystems through highly efficient green investments.
