Improving patient care while significantly reducing energy consumption
As demand for medical imaging services continues to grow, healthcare facilities must expand their capacity while maintaining high standards of care, improving patient comfort, and managing their energy consumption more efficiently. Clinique Mimosa has embraced this challenge by investing in state-of-the-art medical imaging technology.
Located in Fez, Clinique Mimosa is a private healthcare facility providing a range of services, including radiology, adult and neonatal intensive care, as well as medical and surgical diagnostics. To support the development of its activities and respond to growing demand for medical imaging services, the clinic launched an expansion program aimed at strengthening its diagnostic capabilities and improving the quality of patient care.
As part of this strategy, the clinic invested in a new 1.5 Tesla SIGNA™ Explorer MRI system from GE Healthcare, combining high-quality imaging, operational reliability, and improved energy efficiency. With its advanced technology and intuitive operation, the new equipment provides medical teams with enhanced diagnostic capabilities while improving comfort for both patients and healthcare professionals.
The installation of the new MRI system significantly increased the clinic’s diagnostic capacity. The number of examinations performed rose from 30 to 40 scans per day, representing an increase of more than 33%. This additional capacity enables the clinic to serve more patients, reduce waiting times, and improve the overall organization and efficiency of healthcare delivery.
Alongside these improvements in medical services, the investment has also delivered substantial gains in energy efficiency. Electricity consumption per examination decreased from 12.15 kWh to just 5.4 kWh per scan, demonstrating that increased diagnostic capacity can go hand in hand with significantly improved energy performance.
As a result of this investment, Clinique Mimosa achieves estimated annual energy savings of 70.22 MWh, representing a 55.6% reduction compared with reference equipment. This improved energy performance also avoids approximately 42 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent emissions every year.
By combining increased diagnostic capacity, improved quality of care, and a reduced environmental footprint, Clinique Mimosa demonstrates how investment in modern medical technologies can simultaneously enhance patient care and support the transition toward more efficient and sustainable healthcare infrastructure.
