Innovating for Better Patient Care

Providing high-quality healthcare requires reliable and modern medical equipment. For Clinique Bades, a multidisciplinary healthcare facility in Al Hoceima, upgrading its diagnostic imaging capabilities became a strategic priority to better serve patients while improving operational efficiency.

For years, the clinic relied on a second-hand CT scanner that had gradually reached its technical limits. Lower image quality, longer examination times, and recurring operational interruptions were increasingly affecting workflow efficiency and the overall patient experience. As demand for advanced diagnostic services continued to grow, replacing the equipment became essential.

To address these challenges, Clinique Bades invested in a new uCT 530 scanner from United Imaging Healthcare, combining state-of-the-art imaging performance with advanced energy-efficient technology. The new system delivers faster, higher-quality examinations while significantly improving patient comfort and enabling medical teams to work more efficiently and with greater reliability.

Beyond enhancing healthcare services, the investment also generated measurable environmental benefits. The scanner was specifically designed to minimize electricity consumption in both operating and standby modes, requiring only 1.5 kWh per scan, compared with approximately 2.47 kWh for conventional equipment.

As a result, the clinic reduced its annual electricity consumption by 3.8 MWh, representing a 24% reduction compared with the reference technology. This improvement also avoids approximately 2.19 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent emissions every year, demonstrating that investments in modern healthcare infrastructure can simultaneously improve patient outcomes, operational performance, and environmental sustainability.

Green Value Chain (GVC) in Morocco is a credit facility of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to provide funding to local partner financial institutions for on-lending to Moroccan SMEs belonging to agribusiness, processing industries and logistics value chains and ecosystems. Supported by the European Union, the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the Korean Technical Assistance and Cooperation Account (KTACA) and the EBRD Shareholder Special Fund (EBRD SSF), the facility aims to improve competitiveness of SMEs and that of their value chains and ecosystems through highly efficient green investments.
