A hardworking woman farmer: improving irrigation efficiency with support from GEFF II Tajikistan and Humo Bank
Valiyeva Shoira Abdurakhmonovna, a resident of the Kubodiyon district, Sangin jamoat, Chkalov village, is a hardworking and enterprising woman engaged in crop production and livestock farming for many years. Through consistent effort, she has been successfully developing her small farming business.
In order to improve agricultural productivity and use water resources more efficiently, she applied for financing from Humo Bank in May 2025. Under the GEFF II Tajikistan program, she received a green loan of TJS 50,000, which was used to purchase plastic pipes for an irrigation system.
The irrigation system was installed on a 1-hectare plot planted with alfalfa, significantly reducing water losses and improving irrigation efficiency. As a result, crop conditions improved and agricultural production became more sustainable.
The client is currently continuing her activities successfully and plans to expand her farm in the future by purchasing agricultural machinery, including an MTZ tractor. She expressed her gratitude to Humo Bank and its staff and confirmed her intention to continue cooperation in the future.
