Acquisition of a new Krone cool Liner semi-trailer and a refrigeration unit from Thermo king

ASMAECOM is a Moroccan SME based in Fez and operating in the field of national transport of perishable goods on behalf of third-party clients.

ASMAE COM’s fleet consists of a total of 5 tractors equipped with refrigerated semi-trailers. The main destination of the products transported by the company is the national market. The semi-trailers used to transport the products are on average 6 years old.

The main energy consumption item identified within the company is the consumption of diesel in the transport trucks, part of which is consumed by the refrigeration units to generate cold.

In order to expand its market and better respond to the growing needs of its customers, ASMAECOM decided to invest in the acquisition of a new Krone cool Liner semi-trailer and a Thermo King refrigeration unit and requested financing and technical assistance from the GVC programme for its investment through Société Générale.

This new investment allows the company to achieve diesel consumption savings of 500 L/year, corresponding to a 45% reduction compared to the reference line. The new acquisition requires little maintenance, so less downtime and more productivity compared to the baseline line and has also reduced GHG emissions by 1.62 Teq CO2 per year.

Green Value Chain (GVC) in Morocco is an EBRD credit line that provides financing to local partner financial institutions for the financing of green investments by SMEs operating in value chains.
