Kiro Dandaro, established in 1944 as a handicraft printing workshop with 22 employees, developed into a modern graphic industry with 200 employees of different profiles. Located close to the border with Greece, the company produces packaging and secure printing materials, promotional and label materials. Having a great history of producing high-quality prints, Kiro Dandaro complies its long-term goal – to keep the leadership in the market, conscious and responsible behaviour in the working process, and professional attitude towards the customers.

With an objective to reduce energy consumption and impact on the environment, the company decided to replace the old prepress machine. The new machine consumes less electricity and oil, having much lower chemical, operation and maintenance costs.

The company contacted WebSEFF for loan financing of the project. The WebSEFF team performed the analysis of the investment, its technical-economic parameters and risks to make sure the investment leads to sufficient energy savings and reduction of CO2 emissions.

The €1,720,000 investment allowed the company to substantially decrease the energy and maintenance costs, leading to €635,776 savings per year. This allows to repay the investment in just two and a half years from savings only, securing the cash-flow as a company’s profit for the years to come. In addition, the company decreased its CO2 emissions by 198 tonnes per year, making a valuable input to mitigation of negative effects of the human activity on climate.

This project proves once again that energy and cost savings may occur in all types of sectors and technologies, making it worth checking such possibilities with the help of in-house or outsourced expertise.
