A $580,861 investment in energy efficiency reduces electricity consumption by 26%.
Care Med Scan, a private medical diagnostics center in Banha, Qalyubia Governorate, offers advanced services including X-ray, MRI, CT, Echo, and 3D/4D Sonar. To improve service quality and reduce operating costs, the center invested in a new energy-efficient MRI unit, supported by GEFF Egypt.
The new MRI system delivers faster, higher-quality scans while consuming significantly less electricity—enabling Care Med to serve more patients each day and reduce scan-related energy costs.
With a total investment of $580,861, the project achieved:
26% reduction in annual energy consumption (17.63 MWh saved)
10.2 tonnes of CO₂ emissions avoided annually
Shorter scan times and improved diagnostic accuracy
Increased patient throughput and operational savings
This upgrade not only improves Care Med’s environmental footprint, but also strengthens its profitability and competitiveness in the healthcare sector.
As part of the GEFF programme, Care Med Scan received free technical support, with GEFF consultants evaluating the project’s technical, financial, and environmental impact—ensuring the investment met international best practices for green medical technologies.
GEFF Egypt was developed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and is supported by the European Union Neighbourhood Investment Platform.
