Powering the company with clean energy and supplying excess energy to the grid
An Turkish company switched to using clean energy thanks to and installation of a rooftop solar power plant under the Türkiye Sustainable Energy Financing Facility (TurSEFF).
Bediroğlu is a company that operates in energy, agriculture, and livestock activities, operating in Adıyaman, Kahta OIZ. To reduce its use of energy and associated costs, the company decided to has install a 160 kWel solar power plant on top of its building.
TurSEFF consultant advised company about the innovative ways of reducing its energy costs. TurSEFF’s user friendly Technology Selector tool encouraged the company in benefiting TurSEFF loans. The solar power plant investment provides electricity need of the building from a green energy source and the surplus electricity is fed to the grid.
Bediroğlu financed the investment through a partner bank under the TurSEFF programme. During the project implementation, TurSEFF team assisted the company in using the Green Technology Selector and helped it to choose the most appropriate solar power plant.
The company received a loan of €49,178 from TurSEFF and invested €134,943 into a new solar power plant, which now provides 236 MWh energy saving. This green energy investment will contribute mitigation of climate change’s negative impacts. Each year, the investment also results in a reduction of the CO2 emissions of up to 131 tonnes.
TurSEFF was developed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to provide financing for resource efficiency and sustainable energy investments. European Union (EU) is supporting TurSEFF by providing finance for Technical Assistance.
