Building a next-generation energy-efficient “warm” warehouse

For more than three years, individual entrepreneur Mr. Osmanov has been engaged in the sale and installation of paving tiles and blocks in the Almaty region. The growing demand for warm storage facilities became a driver for business expansion. In 2025, he decided to build a modern warehouse complex on a 4-hectare site near Almaty.

To implement the project and purchase new high energy-efficiency equipment and materials, he applied for financing from Shinhan Bank Kazakhstan. The bank offered participation in the EBRD’s Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF), which supports investments in energy-efficient and environmentally friendly technologies.

The new warehouse complex is equipped with mineral wool sandwich panels, energy-efficient lighting, fan coil units, and electric forklifts—all listed in the Green Technology Selector.

Completed this year, the construction of the warehouse marks an important step in the company’s development. The entrepreneur successfully combined his construction experience with a commitment to sustainable technologies.

The project aims to create modern, energy-efficient storage facilities that improve operational efficiency, enhance service quality, and promote responsible environmental management. It illustrates how small businesses in Kazakhstan can integrate sustainability principles into their operations, contributing to the development of greener regional infrastructure.

This project was supported by the Climate Investment Funds (CIF).
