New extrusion line dedicated to the production of pipes with built-in drippers for drip irrigation.

ESCOD is a Moroccan SME specialized in the manufacturing of irrigation equipment and agricultural installations, particularly in the field of drip irrigation. The extensive range of products from the company ESCOD is currently widely distributed in the domestic market through a network of distributors located in all agricultural regions of Morocco.

Currently, the company operates a main production line, and as part of its capacity expansion efforts, decided to invest in an efficient new extrusion line dedicated to the production of pipes with built-in drippers for drip irrigation boosted the company’s production capacity by 80%. This line is designed to generate over 33% energy savings compared to conventional lines available in the market. This significant improvement is a result of its high energy performance, with a specific consumption of 0.6 kWh/kg, representing an enhancement compared to the consumption of the baseline which is 0.9 kWh/kg.

This investment supported by the Green Value Chain Facility enabled the company to further improve its competitiveness and penetrate new markets while reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The energy savings through this investment is 432 MWh of electricity corresponding to 33% compared to the baseline currently available on the market as well as GHG savings of 247 TCO2/year.

Green Value Chain (GVC) in Morocco is a credit facility of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to provide funding to local partner financial institutions for on-lending to Moroccan SMEs belonging to agribusiness, processing industries and logistics value chains and ecosystems. Supported by the European Union, the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the Korean Technical Assistance and Cooperation Account (KTACA) and the EBRD Shareholder Special Fund (EBRD SSF), the facility aims to improve competitiveness of SMEs and that of their value chains and ecosystems through highly efficient green investments.
