“El Hamd Radiology” adopts efficient CT, boosting revenue

El Hamd Radiology, a private medical center based in Luxor Governorate, offers essential diagnostic services including X-ray, CT scans, and echocardiography. To improve service delivery and reduce operating costs, El Hamd invested in a high-efficiency CT unit with support from GEFF Egypt.

The new CT scanner consumes significantly less energy and delivers faster, higher-quality imaging. As a result, the center can now serve more patients during working hours—boosting both revenue and patient satisfaction.

With a total investment of $211,569, the project achieved:

• 37% reduction in annual energy use (153.6 MWh saved)

• Shorter scan times and increased patient throughput

• 26.8 tonnes of CO₂ emissions avoided each year

This investment enhanced El Hamd’s market competitiveness by lowering operational costs and raising service quality—while also contributing to climate action.

In addition to financing, GEFF Egypt provided technical support, helping assess the project’s feasibility and ensuring compliance with GEFF’s green investment criteria.

GEFF Egypt was developed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and is supported by the European Union Neighbourhood Investment Platform.
