Empowering Agricultural Growth with Green Finance: The Story of Nishonboy Ergapiev

Nishonboy Pardoboevich Ergapiev is a dedicated farmer from the northern region of Tajikistan, who has been engaged in agriculture for over five years. On his 2-hectare farm, he cultivates watermelons and has earned a reputation as a reliable and responsible grower, paying close attention to crop quality and farming practices.

Seeking solutions to improve crop yields and irrigation efficiency, Nishonboy turned to Arvand Bank, a GEFF program partner, and received a green loan of 150,000 TJS for a 24-month term. The funds were used to purchase 6.3 kilometers of irrigation pipes—essential infrastructure for building a stable and effective watering system to support plant growth.

While Nishonboy had prior experience with other financial institutions, it was his collaboration with Arvand that marked a turning point. The green loan enabled him to modernize his farm, ensure timely irrigation, and plan for future expansion.

“I’m glad I chose to work with Arvand Bank. They helped me stabilize my operations and continue to support my growth in agriculture,” says Nishonboy.

His story is a powerful example of how green finance and modern technology can empower rural entrepreneurs to build sustainable businesses, reduce environmental impact, and contribute to the country’s food security.

Why It Matters:
• Improved irrigation efficiency through modern piping
• Capacity for agricultural expansion
• Support for rural modernization
• Contribution to regional food security
