Replacement of old washing technology leads to 69% savings and significant production cost decrease

The company is one of the most renowned meat producers in Poland since 1944. It employs around 250 highly qualified employees and supplies 70 tonnes of meat products per day. The company has one of the most advanced plants in the sector and constantly invests in the state-of-the-art technologies, machinery and devices.

To reduce energy consumption and waste-disposal costs, the company decided to replace its meat cart washing technology.

The company approached PolSEFF for affordable financing and technical advice on this investment.

The PolSEFF team performed an analysis of the proposed technology, its potential for energy savings, financial-technical parameters and profitability of the project.

The €45,000 investment allowed the company to reduce its energy consumption by 69 per cent, resulting in substantial annual cost savings. These savings can be seen as additional income. The investment will be repaid from energy savings in just three years. In addition, the company reduced its waste disposal costs and CO2 emissions by 26 tonnes per year.

This project improved the company’s financial standing and competitiveness. It demonstrates that investments in energy efficiency are among the most profitable and quickly repaid ones. Therefore, it is worth checking the energy saving potential of possible investment measures.

The EBRD, through PolSEFF, supports the sustainable implementation of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects by the private sector. Such projects nurture the culture of wise use of resources and best business practices, which go hand in hand with company’ profits and the positive environmental effect.
