New energy efficient freezer helps the entrepreneur to develop her business and reduce energy consumption

A resident of the village of Tortkol, Turkestan region, recently purchased a small grocery store. There was an old freezer from the previous owner in the store. It worked very poorly and sometimes turned off resulting in the spoiled products. The owner decided to purchase a new energy efficient freezer. Since all the funds were invested in the business, there was not enough money to purchase the required equipment. The entrepreneur understood that purchasing quality equipment was an investment for many years ahead. Not to overload the store budget, she applied for a loan to the Microfinance organization (MFO) “KMF”. The loan expert advised to take advantage of the Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF) programme from the EBRD to purchase an energy efficient freezer. Under the terms of this Programme, the eligible equipment has to be selected from the Green Technology Selector and purchased from any supplier for credit funds. The loan expert of the MFO “KMF” helped to select an eligible model of a well-known Turkish manufacturer.

“It was important for me to buy high-quality and energy efficient equipment, so the loan from MFO “KMF” came in hand. I am very pleased that I was able to purchase reliable equipment with the support of the credit funds. Now the products are stored well, and I am able to grow the business by increasing the supplies. It is especially essential that the selected model runs quietly and consumes less electricity,” said the entrepreneur.

This project was supported by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance.
