Agrosami is a producer and wholesaler of grain and seeds in Timis county, Romania.
To decrease its energy consumption and increase the production capacity, the company decided to invest in new equipment.
The company addressed RoSEFF for financing and the RoSEFF team supported the company with analysis of the proposed technology, the potential for energy savings and the financial-technical parameters of the project.
The project comprised the replacement of an inefficient diesel-powered grain treatment and sorting facility with an electricity powered unit with increased production capacity.
The €325,000 investment allowed the company to almost double its sorting and treatment capacity to 1,000 tons per year, while lowering its primary energy consumption by 96%, from 414 to 17 kWh per tonne of production.
This project demonstrates that investments in energy efficiency are often coupled with other benefits such as production increases and process optimisation. Therefore, it is worth checking the energy saving potential of all such investment measures, in order to check if they can bring additional cash-flows from the energy consumption decrease.
This way, RoSEFF supports the sustainable financing and implementation of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects by the private sector. Together, the private, residential and public sectors can make a change in energy consumption patterns and environmental protection.
