Energy efficient hotel in Türkiye

Ilayda Hotel is located in Kusadasi, in South-West Türkiye, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country.

The company decided to renovate the hotel to reduce the energy bill and improve the quality of energy supply.

The investment focused on the most energy intensive systems of the hotel: lighting, heating, cooling and ventilation systems.

Ilayda Hotel applied for the TurSEFF financing and benefitted from the online Technology Selector, where they could select the pre-approved high performance technologies leading to energy savings. In particular, the company purchased a variable refrigerant flow system, heat pumps, LED lighting and solar water heaters.

The investment of €285,163 allowed the hotel to decrease its energy costs by around €60,000 per year, meaning that the investment will be paid off from energy savings in less than 5 years. With the expected lifetime of new equipment, the savings will continue for many more years adding to the company’s income. On the other hand, the company will feel the benefits immediately in the first monthly energy bill. Not to forget the reliability of supply and improved comfort for guests, which will surely attract more clients and increase the hotel’s revenues.

In addition, the project resulted in CO2 emission savings of 65 per cent, contributing to the mitigation of the negative effect of human activity on the climate.

This way, the hotel has improved its financial standing and competitiveness at the market, while demonstrating the best practices of energy efficiency investments in buildings for others to follow the example.
