Profpack PE, a diversified manufacturing company founded in 2016 in Tashkent, operates in various sectors including corrugated packaging and artificial marble block production. With increasing demand for durable construction materials, the company decided to upgrade its marble block production line to modern, energy-efficient equipment that could meet both market needs and environmental goals.
With financing provided through the GEFF II programme in Uzbekistan, Profpack invested $2,260,000 in a new automated artificial marble production line, manufactured by Xiamen Eaststar Import and Export Co. Ltd (China). The system includes advanced components such as CNC cutting, pressing, and mixing machines, all equipped with variable speed drives (VSDs) for higher energy efficiency. A loan of $1,916,185 was issued via JSCB “Uzpromstroybank”, accompanied by free technical support from GEFF engineers.
The upgrade has significantly improved performance. Annual electricity consumption has dropped by 618 MWh, reducing CO₂ emissions by 329 tonnes per year. The company also increased its production output by 26%, from 950,000 to 1,200,000 m² of artificial marble blocks. While the simple payback from energy savings alone is 51 years, the total investment pays off in 2.8 years whcen including $750,000 in additional annual sales revenue.
By integrating energy-efficient technology into its operations, Profpack PE is reinforcing its role as a reliable and forward-looking manufacturer in Uzbekistan’s construction materials sector—meeting demand sustainably and reducing its carbon footprint.
The Green Economy Financing Facility in Uzbekistan (GEFF II in Uzbekistan), which supported this investment, was developed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and is backed by Canada through the EBRD’s High-Impact Partnership on Climate Action, the Climate Investment Funds, and the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund.
