Mansour Automotive invested in reducing its electricity expenses by more than 50%.
Mansour Automotive is a leading Egyptian and regional automotive distributor established in 1975. Since its inception, the company has been a pioneer in the industry, and is associated with several leading global automotive companies and brands including GM, Isuzu Motor Corporation, Stellantis, SAIC, MG, Chevrolet, Opel and Peugeot. The company has more than 125 service and sales centres in Egypt and across its countries of operations.
The company started an ambitious plan of switching to energy efficient lighting in its showrooms across Egypt. They invested in replacing conventional lighting in three of their showrooms, out of which, two showrooms are located in Cairo and one in Assiut. The new energy efficient lighting will help the company reduce its energy expenses by more than 50%.
The company benefited from the Green Technology Selector in selecting pre-approved technologies that helped fast-track the GEFF loan application. The GEFF team confirmed the project benefits associated with the investment.
The US$ 54,476 investment helped reduce overall electricity consumption by the equivalent of 1,543 MWh per year (53%). The company’s reduction in their energy consumption will help in reducing their annual energy expenses by more than 50%.
The reduction of greenhouse gases associated with this investment is estimated at 238 tonnes of CO2 per year, a valuable contribution to mitigating the negative impacts of climate change.
GEFF Egypt was developed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and is supported by the European Union Neighbourhood Investment Facility.
