Energy Efficient production lines to enhance Berzi’s competitiveness

Berzi Plastics invests in improving the efficiency of its production lines to enhance its competitiveness.

Established in 1971, BERZI PLASTICS is specialized in plastic packaging solutions utilizing various types of raw materials to produce plastic packaging and other plastic containers and products for different types of industries. The company serves FMCGs in diverse industrial sectors across the region.

The company started improving the energy performance of its production lines by replace an old inefficient plastic injection machine with a new energy efficient one that would help the company save production cost and improve production output and quality.

The company benefited from the Green Technology Selector in selecting pre-approved technologies that helped fast-track the GEFF loan application. The GEFF team confirmed the project benefits associated with the investment.

The US$ 129,760 investment helped reduce overall electricity consumption by the equivalent of 1,543 MWh per year (72%). The company’s reduction in their energy consumption will help in reducing their annual energy expenses by 20%.

The reduction of greenhouse gases associated with this investment is estimated at 1,044 tonnes of CO2 per year, a valuable contribution to mitigating the negative impacts of climate change.

GEFF Egypt was developed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and is supported by the European Union Neighbourhood Investment Facility.
