The new automated basalt composite pipe production line at Ecobasalt Group JV LLC boosts manufacturing efficiency, reduces environmental impact, and strengthens Uzbekistan’s industrial sustainability.
Founded in 2022, Ecobasalt Group JV LLC has quickly established itself as a key player in the production of basalt composite pipes. These high-performance pipes are widely used for transporting petroleum, gases, aggressive liquids, and water supply systems, offering durability and resistance to extreme conditions. Located in Jizzakh Region, Uzbekistan, the company is focused on enhancing production efficiency while adopting environmentally friendly technologies.
To support this goal, Ecobasalt Group invested $19,702,545 in a state-of-the-art automated basalt composite pipe production line. The new facility, supplied by Superlight Boru Ticaret Ltd Sti (Türkiye), integrates advanced automation, real-time process control, and high-precision equipment, replacing manual labor-intensive processes. The investment was facilitated by the GEFF programme in Uzbekistan, with $2,000,000 provided as a loan through Joint Stock Commercial Bank “Uzpromstroybank”. Additionally, the company benefited from free technical assistance from GEFF experts, ensuring optimized energy efficiency and production improvements.
The automated production line has delivered remarkable results. Energy consumption has decreased by 29%, resulting in annual savings of 327 MWh, while CO₂ emissions have been reduced by 174 tonnes per year. The expanded production capacity allows the company to generate an additional $3,750,000 in annual revenue, significantly enhancing profitability. With a payback period of 5.24 years, the investment demonstrates both economic and environmental benefits.
The Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF) in Uzbekistan was developed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and is supported by the EBRD’s Shareholder Special Fund, the Taiwan Business – EBRD Technical Cooperation Fund, and the Federal Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Austria.
