GEFF Türkiye loan is helping textile sector with financing resource efficiency (water) machines.
FG Textile, founded in İzmir in 1997, is a textile company specializing in denim production for some of the world’s leading brands. With its advanced washing facilities, it continually expands both its production capacity and market share each year. The company’s business model prioritizes resource efficiency and embraces sustainability in its manufacturing processes, pioneering the development of innovative technologies to that end.
To improve water efficiency and reduce environmental impact, FG Tekstil invested in new water-efficient washing machines utilizing the Wiser Wash technology at their facility in İzmir. In line with this sustainability goal, they leased advanced machinery through one of GEFF Türkiye participating financial institutions in 2023.
Transitioning from conventional washing methods to Wiser Wash represents a critical step towards resource efficiency in the textile industry. Supported by €290,000 in GEFF financing, the new machines eliminate the use of hazardous chemicals and provide water saving over 50%. This shift not only helps combat climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions but also significantly lowers operational costs.
FG Tekstil aims to achieve 50% of its production using the environmentally friendly Wiser Wash system by 2025, with the goal of both contributing to sustainability and increasing its production capacity.
The Green Economy Financing Facility in Türkiye (GEFF Türkiye) was developed by The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and is supported by Clean Technology Fund (CTF), Republic of Turkiye Ministry of Treasury and Finance (MoTF) and EBRD Shareholder Special Fund.
