GEFF Loan Helps Plastic Manufacturer Reduce 75% of its Energy Consumption

efficient units, ALPLA TABA improved its competitive position by increasing their production capacity while reducing their electricity consumption.

ALPLA TABA is a joint venture between the Austrian based ALPLA Group and the Egyptian-based TABA Group producing innovative packaging systems, bottles, closures and injection-moulded parts for a wide range of industries.

AlplaTaba is looking to improve the overall energy consumption at its facility in Sharqia Egypt. The plan focuses on the replacement of plastic injection moulding machines which highly consume energy

The GEFF team conducted the technical eligibility assessment through several site visits and working with the sub-borrower and the participating financial institution teams to provide technical advice when needed.

The USD 1,973,000 investment allowed the company to reduce the energy consumption by 75 %. This will help the company save production costs, thus increasing its profitability

The new production line led to a reduction of the CO2 emissions by 3,073 tonnes per year, making a valuable input towards mitigation of negative effect of human activities on climate.

GEFF Egypt was developed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and is supported by the European Union Neighbourhood Investment Facility.
