The GEFF team evaluated potential savings and technology specifications, through several site visits and working with the sub-borrower and the participating financial institution teams to provide technical advice when needed.
The US$ 2,800,000 investment allowed the company to reduce 3,100 MWh per year of primary energy, which will help the company save production costs and improve its products’ quality.
The reduction of greenhouse gases associated with this investment is estimated 544 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year, a valuable contribution to mitigating the negative impacts of climate change.
GEFF Egypt was developed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and is supported by the European Union Neighbourhood Investment Facility.
