The new high-efficiency WPC production line enables Uz-Metertech LLC to expand its manufacturing capacity, reduce energy and water consumption, and enhance the sustainability of Uzbekistan’s automotive supply chain.

Uz-Metertech LLC was founded in 2003 and has become a key player in Uzbekistan’s automotive components industry. The company, based in Andijan, specializes in manufacturing interior parts for leading car models such as Chevrolet Spark, Nexia, and Cobalt. Over the years, the company has expanded its production capacity, integrating modern technologies to enhance quality and efficiency. With an annual production capacity of over 1.4 million units, Uz-Metertech continues to play a vital role in the local automotive supply chain.

To further expand its operations and improve efficiency, Uz-Metertech invested $373,000 in a highly efficient wood plastic composite (WPC) board production line for car interior parts. The new line was supplied by Quingdao Hegu Wood-Plastic Machinery Co. Ltd and includes advanced extrusion, molding, and cutting systems that significantly enhance productivity. The investment was financed through the GEFF programme in Uzbekistan, with $144,646 provided as a loan through Joint-Stock Innovation Commercial Bank “Ipak Yuli”. The company also received free technical assistance from GEFF experts, ensuring optimal energy and resource savings.

The new WPC production line has resulted in significant improvements. Energy consumption has been reduced by 43%, saving 188 MWh per year, while water consumption has decreased by 9,425 m³ per year. These efficiency gains have also led to a reduction of 100 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually. The increased production capacity has allowed Uz-Metertech to generate additional revenues of $56,700 per year, strengthening its financial performance and market position. With a payback period of 5.59 years, the investment is both economically viable and environmentally sustainable.

With the successful implementation of this energy-efficient technology, Uz-Metertech LLC is reinforcing its leadership in Uzbekistan’s automotive component manufacturing sector while contributing to a more sustainable and resource-efficient economy.

The Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF) in Uzbekistan was developed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and is supported by the EBRD’s Shareholder Special Fund.
