Improved operational efficiency and cost reduction

In the city of Amman, Hani Al-Samman & Partners Company (National Press), one of Jordan’s oldest printing houses, continues to grow by investing in technology that improves both performance and efficiency. Established in 1925, the company has become one of the country’s leading full-service printing providers, combining experience with innovation.

To modernize its facilities and reduce operational costs, National Press turned to the Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF) through Cairo Amman Bank. With GEFF support, the company invested in a large-scale upgrade that included HVAC systems, lighting fixtures, elevators. The HVAC improvements involved installing an air-cooled chiller to cool the printing machine through a heat exchanger, alongside ducted split systems including air handling units (AHUs) for the indoor side and condensing units for the outdoor side. These upgrades enhanced temperature control, air quality, and reliability across the production site — crucial factors for consistent printing quality and worker comfort.

The new systems are expected to save around 1,068 MWh of energy each year and avoid nearly 151 tonnes of CO₂ emissions. The investment also reduces maintenance and downtime, giving the company greater control over costs and productivity.

The total investment of US$ US$ 478032, supported by a 10% cashback incentive of US$ 47,780, has already proven valuable. “Modern equipment keeps production running smoothly and helps us manage costs more efficiently,” says a company representative.

This project demonstrates how adopting energy-efficient technologies can strengthen business competitiveness, improve reliability, and ensure long-term operational savings.

The Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF) in Jordan is developed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and is supported by the European Union (EU) and the Green Climate Fund (GCF).
