Higher performance and productivity with modern processing equipment
Kholbeka Temirovna Amirova was born in July 1958 in the village of Obshoron, Childara Jamoat, in the city of Tursunzoda. From a young age, she worked alongside her parents in the fields, and her love for the land became the guiding thread of her life. After getting married, she continued farming with her husband while raising six children—who are now all independent with families of their own.
In 2016, Kholbeka learned about the opportunity to receive support for developing her farm. This marked the beginning of her collaboration with the microfinance institution “Humo.” Starting with small seasonal loans and gradually moving into investments in intensive orcharding, she significantly expanded the scale of her agricultural activities.
Kholbeka places great emphasis on implementing modern agricultural technologies. Her farm uses a drip irrigation system that helps conserve water—especially vital during dry seasons. She also upgraded her farming equipment to more energy-efficient models, reducing costs and increasing productivity. Through the GEFF II program, she established an intensive orchard with new, more resilient fruit tree varieties.
The results were quick to follow: crop quality improved, expenses decreased, and she gained the capacity to hire seasonal workers. Thanks to a stable income, Kholbeka’s family improved their living conditions, supported their children, and gained a sense of financial security.
“We used to do everything by hand,” says Kholbeka. “Now, with machinery, everything is faster and easier. I want other women to know they shouldn’t be afraid to start.”
Kholbeka’s story is a powerful example of how sustainable solutions—and belief in oneself—can transform not only a farm but the future of an entire family.
