Improved efficiency loader quickly pays off and contributes to competitiveness

Vil Food LLC is a producer of traditional canned fruits and vegetables established in 2007 in the central Kotayk region of Armenia. After five years, the company had achieved such a firm position at the Armenian market that it was able to pursue export opportunities of its tasty products to Russia, France and the USA.

Since then, the company has been looking to expand its range of products and modernise its equipment and fleet. Along these lines, the management decided to lease a new high-performance loader (HZM S25D) having weighed the pros and cons of making this investment. At Vil Food’s request, the GEFF team carried out a project analysis and assessed the potential energy savings of the project.

The new loader purchased for US$ 27,347 enabled the company to reduce its energy consumption by 161 MWh per year, resulting in 2,000 hours of high-performance operation annually and contributing to a reduction in CO₂ emissions totalling 43 tonnes per year. The 2.5-tonne telescopic wheel loader offers improved mobility and operation, thus making a valuable input towards maintaining a cleaner, safer and healthier environment for food production and for the area in which the company operates.

“The price of energy is going up dramatically; nevertheless, we would like to be competitive both nationally and overseas with our products. Investing in energy-efficient processing equipment while expanding our product range will be our next move”, says Mr Armen Arakelyan, Director.
