“Kand Express” LLC: Advancing passenger transport through the adoption of electric vehicles
“Kand Express” LLC has been operating in the city of Kanibadam since 2014 and is recognized as a reliable taxi service provider with high-quality passenger transport services. Currently, the company operates a fleet of 25 electric vehicles, serving the city’s residents on a daily basis.
Prior to introducing electric vehicles, the company faced rising operational costs due to increasing fuel prices for petrol and gas. The growing fuel expenses significantly affected the efficiency and sustainability of daily operations.
To reduce costs and transition to a more sustainable business model, the company’s management decided to invest in electric transportation. As part of the project, 25 electric vehicles were purchased from Chengdu Zhongyi Lianxing Import and Export Trading Co. LTD (People’s Republic of China). The total investment amounted to USD 350,000, of which USD 190,000 was financed through a green loan provided under the GEFF program with support from ICB bank.
According to the company’s management, support from GEFF II Tajikistan and the bank enabled a reduction in operating costs by 60–70%, while profitability increased by 40–50%. The project also created additional jobs and allowed the company to offer higher wages to its employees.
This project illustrates how the transition to electric transport can simultaneously reduce costs, improve environmental performance, and support the sustainable development of urban mobility services
