Young entrepreneur improve the comfort of the house with thermal insulation
Zarina Shakhmet is a young entrepreneur from the Karaganda city. Zarina runs a sewing business located at her family house. The woman sews women’s clothing, aprons, tablecloths. With the onset of the pandemic, the entrepreneur expanded the range of products and started sewing fabric protective face masks. For the sale of masks, Zarina has started and maintained a special Instagram page.
In anticipation of autumn and the onset of cold weather, the family planned to insulate their house. Zarina approached Microfinance organization (MFO) “KMF” for obtaining a microcredit, and received an advice from a loan officer to apply for Green Economy Financing Facility Financing program from the EBRD. Since the GEFF program allows to receive an incentive in the amount of 10% of the cost of purchasing energy efficient technologies and equipment purchased with the help of borrowed funds, Zarina agreed without hesitation.
The entrepreneur chose an insulating material from a large Russian manufacturer, represented in Kazakhstan, on the website of Green Technology Selector. Funds from micro loan was spent on purchase of insulation material and on its delivery. Total investment cost of the sub-project was USD 852. Zarina is sure that now the house will be warm and cozy both in the mid-season and in winter. Upon completion of facade insulation works, Zarina submitted documents for verification and received an incentive.
This project was supported by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance.
